This session explores how AI chatbots can simulate mediation scenarios, helping students build pragmatic competence, refine cross-cultural communication, and navigate linguistic complexity. Participants will: • Learn how AI supports pragmatic, culturally sensitive communication • See how chatbots scaffold cognitive and linguistic challenges • Experience real-time simulations to build mediation skills for global teamwork The speakers will compare several AI tools (e.g., Mizou, Flint, Character AI), showcase mediation tasks for classroom use, and share findings on teacher and student perceptions of chatbot-based mediation training. With 25+ years of experience and over 110 publications, her work centres on ESP methodology, UDL, resilient pedagogy, and educational technologies.
