How to inspect a used car before buying? In this video, we’ll walk you through a basic level car inspection checklist – perfect for beginners! Learn how to check the body frame, Car Paint, engine, gearbox, suspension, AC performance, tyres, and interior condition without needing a mechanic. This is your first step to becoming confident in buying and maintaining your own car. Whether you're buying your first car or investing in a used vehicle, this video will help you avoid costly mistakes. In Shaa Allah, I’ll also bring you an advanced inspection guide in the next video so you can become a pro at car inspection. ✅ Point 1: Body Frame & Alignment • Check the car from the side – look for any uneven surfaces, dents, or wave-like patterns. These may indicate bodywork after an accident. • Inspect the body frame closely – if there are irregular gaps between the bonnet, fenders, or doors, it might be a sign of a previous accident or poor realignment after repairs. ________________________________________ ✅ Point 2: Paint Condition & Body Seals • Visually check for uneven paint texture – known as "orange peel" or patchy surfaces. It’s a clear sign of repainting. • Use a paint thickness gauge to check for inconsistencies. A variation in readings often means the car has been repainted. Green status shows its original paint. ________________________________________ ✅ Point 3: Front Support (Patti) Check • Look for hammer marks or uneven surfaces on the front support panel (patti). • Loose or opened bolts on the front suggest that the area has been worked on – this usually happens after a front-end accident. • Factory bolts should be tight and have original paint marks intact. ________________________________________ ✅ Point 4: Engine Condition • Open the engine oil cap – if you see thick, black deposits (sludge), it means the engine wasn't maintained properly. • Use a flashlight or your phone camera to check for leaks or oil stains in the engine bay ________________________________________ ✅ Point 5: Transmission / Gearbox • Start the car and *shift gears while idle. * There should be no jerks, delays, or noises. • For *manual cars, * the clutch should feel smooth and not too hard. • For *automatic cars, * gear shifts should be smooth without any lag or hard jerks – delays or clunks are warning signs. ________________________________________ ✅ Point 6: Suspension Check • With the car stationary, turn the steering wheel fully left and right in motion circles * – listen for any *"click" or "thuk thuk" sounds, which indicate suspension or steering rack issues. • Take a test drive over uneven roads – listen for knocking sounds or vibrations, which may point to worn-out suspension components. ________________________________________ ✅ *Point 7: Car Interior (Cabin Inspection) • Check the *wear on the steering wheel, gear knob, and handbrake lever – excessive wear with low odometer reading may mean the meter has been tampered with. • Inspect the roof lining – roughness or sagging usually appears in high-mileage or poorly maintained cars. • Look in the trunk/spare wheel area – if the floor is scratched or worn, the car might have been used as a taxi or not maintained well. A clean and shiny trunk often indicates a well-kept vehicle. ________________________________________ ✅ Point 8: AC Performance • Use a car AC temperature meter (available in the market) to check how much the temperature drops. • Turn on the AC – it should start cooling quickly. The compressor sound should be smooth with no rattling or whining noises. ________________________________________ ✅ Point 9: Tyres Condition • Insert a 1 rupee coin into the tyre tread – if the tread doesn't cover the coin markings, the tyres are worn out. • Find the manufacturing year on the tyre sidewall – old tyres (over 5-7 years) lose grip and can be dangerous, even if the tread looks okay. 👉 Here is the link to my video to help you with the inspection process: How to check Engine Sludge • How To Check Engine Condition (How To Chec... *Automatic Car Gearbox Repair or Replace Reason? • Automatic & CVT Gear Oil Change Guide | Wh... *How to Service your AC at Home • Wagon R Car AC Service At Home | Cooling &... *How to Buy Best Tire In Pakistan (How To Read Car Tyre Rating Codes Number) * • How to Buy Best Tire In Pakistan (How To R... *Things to check before buying a used car in Pakistan to avoid scams.
