Steam Shmup Fest is Absurd! 30 Deep Cut Recommendations. Steam is running this big event for my favorite genre, shmups (shoot em' ups)... but there is one little problem, most of the games featured and promoted are NOT SHMUPS LOL. This is a perfect example of what I talked about in my shmup definition video, where genre definitions don't matter... until they do. And so, to try to offer some guidance and also actually give some spotlight to some fantastic steam shmups that don't get much attention, I have created this list (with the help of Boghog and M.Knight) of 30 deep cut shmup recommendations. And what I mean by "deep cut" are shmups that I don't talk about as much on the channel and shmups that are really good (quality is required to be on the list), but are not the common names everyone sees like Ikaruga, Treasure, CAVE, RAIZING, Psikyo, ect. Even though I love those shmups as well. So basically if you are wondering hey why isn't Crimzon Clover or ZeroRanger on this list, it's not because I don't recommend them (of course I do), but rather because I have recommended them many many times before ha. Same with CAVE. Also I am AWARE that not all the games listed are actually on sale right now, but just wishlist them because I also want this video to be relevant in the future ha, so I included choices that are not on sale just for this Shmup Fest event.
