Mangroves and seagrass meadows are among the most important coastal ecosystems in the Pacific. This short film explores their role in supporting fisheries, protecting coastlines, and sustaining livelihoods in Papua New Guinea. Filmed in Kavieng, New Ireland Province, the film documents coastal communities and the ecosystems they depend on as part of the MACBLUE Project led by GIZ Pacific, with support from Wildlife Conservation Society PNG and partners. Mangroves and seagrass meadows provide critical nursery habitats for many marine species and play a key role in maintaining healthy coastal ecosystems across the Pacific.
