#biology #neet #BSc #ncert It is better to use 'x' in place of 'n' as basic chromosome number which most of the books have used interchangeably. Using 'n' in place of 'x' creates unsolicited confusion. In this video, I have tried to explain as to how 'x' and 'n' can be used interchangeably only in diploid (2x) cells but not in polyploid cells like those of wheat. Note: This terminology doesn't apply to certain taxa wherein the dominant phase is haploid.
