In a world where education often overlooks human-centric values, the JEDI Lab invites us to reimagine learning through the principles of justice, empathy, community, and collaboration. This framework goes beyond mere innovation; it aims to create spaces where every voice is valued and meaningful change can flourish, merging ancestral wisdom with modern insights. Julie is the founder of Masla Empathy Lab and JEDI Kids. A biochemist by training, Julie worked for over five years in clinical research studying the effect of environmental contaminants on children’s development before obtaining her MBA from McGill University. It was during her MBA that she deepened her expertise in social impact and human-centered design while understanding the potential for the public, private, and social sectors to work together to contribute to sustainable and relevant solutions. In 2020, she founded Bindia Savaria Consulting, now Masla Empathy Lab (a certified B Corp) to help organizations and educational institutions start, deepen, or establish their JEDI strategy or program, and JEDI Kids, a platform dedicated to helping caregivers and anyone raise the next generation of inclusive and mindful children. In parallel, Julie taught occasionally on the topic of Social Innovation and Equity at McGill University.
