The 2024 Awaodori festival enjoyed sunny weather throughout, but rain fell during the very last moments of the final day. Last year, my microphone broke while filming in heavy rain, so I couldn't properly capture some of the performances in the latter half of the second part. Despite the rain, I stayed to witness the final performance by Godyahei at the Konya-machi stage. Before COVID, Godyahei traditionally closed out the last day at Konya-machi, and it was also the final stage for the sixth-grade Godyahei kids' last dance. The unique scene of everyone, including dancers, musicians, and the audience, watching the final dance together marks the end of the Awaodori festival at Konya-machi. Awaodori (Awa Dance) is one of the most famous traditional performing arts in Japan, with its history of more than 430 years. "Awa" is the old feudal administration name for Tokushima Prefecture, and "odori" means "dance".
