More testimonies to police drive investigation of Hamilton man charged with sexual assault

Hamilton police say more people are continuing to come forward in the investigation of Bryan Hayward, who faces disturbing allegations of sexual assault against unknowing victims. “We have received numerous calls from members of the community and we are investigating those incidents, taking statements, and we continue to investigate,” said Const. Adam Kimber with the Hamilton Police Service. 36-year-old Bryan Hayward is facing multiple charges including sexual assault, voyeurism, distribution of intimate images, and possession of several controlled substances including GHB, which is also known as the “date-rape drug.” Police say Hayward may have contacted his victims through online dating sites. CHCH News spoke with CTV’s W5 investigative correspondent Avery Haines this week. She said Hayward was arrested after she notified police about what she found in an investigation into an alleged online network of men, who appear to be drugging women an secretly recording sexual assaults. “We are obviously aware of the report,” said Kimber. “Right now, we are focused on the members of our community who have been affected by the accused and we are investigating those incidents.” “To a broader scale, I think that’s a conversation we are open to having moving forward. This is a complex investigation that will be evolving and we will be doing this investigation for many, many weeks moving forward,” said Kimber. Police confirm that a video taken by a by-stander shows Hayward’s arrest a week ago in a Tim Horton’s drive-thru on Concession Street. “The reason we did that in the drive-thru at the Tim Hortons,” said Kimber, who was concerned with both officer and community safety. “It’s in an area where the vehicle is essentially immobilized – we were able to affect the arrest safely for everyone involved, including the accused.” Officers say there may be additional victims of Hayward, including those who may not even realize they have been assaulted. “We want to hear from you, if you know something please contact us – we are very malleable,” said Kimber. “We will come to you, or if you want to come to the station, we just want to gather as much information about these incidents as possible.”
