A five-judge Constitution Bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud and Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai and Surya Kant will hear the pleas on a day-to-day basis except Mondays and Fridays. The Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2023 (DPDP) was tabled in the Lok Sabha on Thursday with Opposition parties raising some objections. The new Bill is the Indian Government’s second attempt at drafting legislation related to privacy. The main objective of the Data Bill is to regulate the processing of personal data along with ensuring a person the right to protect their data. The new bill has been welcomed by India Inc with many hailing it as a remarkable step towards ushering in India’s ‘techade’.
