Welcome To #EdLeighsMoneySavingSnowTips As we approach the end of this most mental of years, how are things looking? Well the World Health Organisation has now weighed in urging countries with ski resorts to be very careful about opening. Not because skiing or snowboarding themselves are unsafe Covid-wise (fresh mountain air, exercise… being super-healthy as we’ve discussed many times) but it’s the inevitable crowding that takes place in ski resorts that concerns them the most. But it’s fair to say that as France ends its national lockdown and opens resorts, albeit not for skiing until Jan 7th at least, transnational snow trips are still not looking likely for a while. And British people can’t travel to the EU from Jan 1st at the moment anyway due to Brexit as I explained last week. Though you have to imagine/hope that will get sorted soon. I am still holding out hope for a late season, Easter trip bonanza, as I’ve been saying previous weeks. And I’m also feeling buoyed by the fact the government has finally sorted out its test and release system for international travel. Remember if you do plan to head out late season, there are massive savings to be had if you book your ski/snowboard hire in advance. Intersport are running offers and their FB page every two weeks, and they offer full Covid protections and refunds. They also rent out touring kit and snowshoes if you understandably want to steer clear of the crowds more than usual this year.
