Different Types Of Car Lights And Their Purposes (Explained). In this video I will talk about different types of car lights and their purposes. Here are some of the car lights and their purposes: High beam headlights Headlights are categorized into two types: high beam and low beam. They are located at the front of your vehicle. As the name suggests, high-beam headlights provide far-ahead lighting. This helps provide better visibility in dark and quiet road conditions. Use of these lights should be limited as they can blind oncoming drivers. Low beam headlights Unlike high-beam headlights, low beams provide enough light to illuminate your path without excessive glare, which may blind oncoming drivers. These lights are essential when you are driving at night. They also improve safety and visibility when used in the daytime during adverse weather conditions like fog. Daytime running lights These lights are used in the daytime. As soon as your engine starts, they turn on automatically. Daytime running lights help other drivers see your car when your headlights aren't switched on. However, they do not replace the headlights' function. Tail lights They are located at the back of your vehicle and function as an important safety feature. These lights signal your presence to drivers behind you and indicate turning or braking intentions. They consist of several bulbs and are typically red. When you press your brake pedal, the tail lights become brighter to alert drivers to slow down. Brake lights Brake lights are used to signal the drivers behind you that your car is braking. This prevents miscommunication between drivers, which may cause accidents. They glow bright red, brighter than tail lights.
