This is the prefect piano hymn arrangement to play on Pentecost Sunday (or any other Sunday, for that matter). In the text, the author invites the Holy Spirit to transform her life by opening her eyes, her mouth, her ears. Each stanza ends with “illumine me, Spirit divine!” May that be our motto every day of our lives! The piano arrangement is structured in three sections. In the first section the hands stay close to the middle register and the voicing is modest. The waltz-style rhythms will give it a light bounce that will bring a smile to whoever plays or listens. On the second verse the hands move to a higher register where the music suddenly becomes more delicate. Think of a music box! Lastly, on the third verse we pull all the stops! Large leaps in the left hand between the bass note and the chords plus full chords and octaves in the right hand.
