In this video we demonstrate some best practices on how to instal a weave basket pattern using the natural unglazed Zellige tile with a cap on the floor. Disclaimer: The following steps are not and should not be a substitute to hiring a professional Zellige tile installer. Sorting the tile 1. Sort out the tile and try to pick out the perfectly flat tiles. (floor instal) 2. Put away tiles with larger ships, you may need them for corner cutting. Sealing 3.Use a light sandpaper and clean the tile residue before sealing 4. Seal the tile twice before installing it, must wait for the tile to dry between each time. We recommend using "Miracle Sealants 511 Porous Plus Sealer" and a White Sealer Aplicator. Floor Instal 5. Once you apply mortar thin-set on the floor, butter the back of each tile with thin-set before placing it to give you more room to adjust your tile and make them leveled to have a smooth surface. it's easier to do when your mortar thin-set is thicker. 6. Spacing for the 2x6 we recommend about an 1/8" and using wedges instead of cross spacers. this gives you the ability to adjust each tile separately if needed 7. Grout your tile, we recommend MAPEI Ultracolor Plus FA bone or chamois colors for the natural unglazed. NOTE. The tile must be sealed prior to this step, if it is not sealed the grout will stick to the tile forever. Clean the grout immediately after applying it. Finish Touches 8. We recommend one last sealant coat. 9. Lastly apply a liquid wax to give it a nice natural sheen finish. FILA Surface Care Solutions MATT Matte Liquid Wax. Happy tiling!!
