The first showdown was in 2015; it was put on hiatus for 2020 and 2021 due to public health concerns. MOpyro and KCAP are now tied, each having won 3 of the showdowns. Three judges with former pyromusical experience were chosen to judge the shows based on 3 criteria: Creativity, Choreography, and Execution. Judging was "blind" as judges had no prior knowledge of the club shoot order.
