The Schiller Lecture 2025 Charlotte Hacking presented a most useful insight of the recent publication of; 'The Balancing Act', which she co-authored with Dominic Wyse. The book is described as 'an evidence-based approach to the teaching of phonics, reading and writing'. The illustrated talk provided some most useful, evidence-led insights into the effectiveness of the government programme on synthetic phonics. From there, Charlotte provided the audience with some really helpful advice on the teaching of reading and writing, based on research. Charlotte is a primary school teacher, Education Consultant and Speaker. Co-creator of The Balancing Act and the Double Helix of Reading and Writing with Prof. Dominic Wyse.
