One CN, Two Subs: Leithton and Freeport -- Railfanning Sunday

We make our first visit to the Freeport Subdivision (former Illinois Central) of the Canadian National Railway system in the outer Chicago area. The Munger area is an area on the western edge of Bartlett, Illinois, near Wayne and South Elgin, where the Freeport Sub crosses under the Leithton Sub (former EJ&E Railway). This gave us the opportunity to see our first train on the Freeport, which is much less-used than Leithton. We also catch one train at one of our favorite spots, the Spaulding diamond area, which is just a little more than 2 miles north of Munger.
