In this video, I make a double-sided chessboard with the Army, Navy, and Air Force logos, hence the name Commander-In-Chief's Chess Board. One side has the three logos and squares made out of Wenge and Curly Maple. The other side has inlaid algebraic notation and squares made out of Bolivian Rosewood (Morado) and Curly Maple. I made the chessboard for Alex Plechash, a retired Marine and former Top Gun fighter pilot, who flew in from Minneapolis today to record the video introduction with me. It's always nice to have the opportunity to meet clients in person. The chessboard has 2" squares and a 3" frame with a brass border and curly maple edge banding. The playing field is 16" x 16" and the overall board is 22" x 22". In addition to the logos from the three military services, the board also has Alex's initials engraved and finished with gold leaf.
