What do you do when you've had a week full of work and uncertainty and the stress of multiple TSUNAMI WARNINGS? We left all our cares behind on our sailboat and had a relaxing, family day at ALAO BEACH, AMERICAN SAMOA. Once we felt as confident as we could that we wouldn't be putting ourselves in unnecessary danger from a tsunami, we headed out to the eastern tip of Tutuila, the main island of American Samoa. Once there, we immediately spotted our escape route, just in case we had to get to higher ground, then we kicked back under the fales. Alao Beach always brings back beautiful, but terrifying memories from the first time we visited this breathtaking spot. That was the first time we learned what the Samoan word "Ava" means (rip current) and how to keep ourselves safe.
