I stayed after school many times in 10th grade to work on this Commodore 64 game written entirely in BASIC. Slow gameplay, one color, no sound, standard graphics. But at the time it represented a milestone - a complete, working game! And it sucked. After that, we compare it to my first game effort using Machine Language. Six years later - perhaps only two years after learning ML in the first place - comes a version with color and sound and custom graphics, but still lacking that spark that makes a game fun. This video reveals only a small part of my coding history. It does, however, show the largest jump: that being the leap from BASIC to Machine Language. I coded exclusively using an ML monitor for two years before getting the PAL assembler. I've used it faithfully ever since.
