Once criticized for it so-so music and mediocre gameplay, Lucas Arts nailed it with Monkey Island. Beautiful graphics, beautiful music and fun to play. It's the first of their games to support a multitude of sound cards and easy gameplay. It supported the PC Speaker, Tandy, Creative Music System (CMS), AdLib (and through this, Sound Blaster) and Roland LAPC-I. The latter being the top of the solutions, having the best sound (only to be superseeded by a later Monkey Island Madness pack in 1997, which added CD Audio music). It's also one of the first of their games (with the precedance of Loom) to have close-up artwork of several of its characters speaking or taking/watching certain actions. One interesting bit is that this game received overwhelming reviews but never sold off in high rates initially, but was a slow burner. It was never the financial success Sierra Online usually had with their games. Nevertheless, it has become a classic. Enjoy this intro!
