Nomadic winter in Iran requires extreme efforts. In these times of regional turmoil, we share the harsh reality of our off-grid nomadic life and the heavy physical labor it takes just to gather firewood. With our son Akan recovering from pneumonia with Medina's mother, we are able to leave the Telewa shelter and climb the steep hills to harvest dead branches for our stove. It is backbreaking work cutting and carrying these massive bundles down the rocky mountain paths, but doing it together makes the burden lighter. When we return home, we cook a simple shepherd's meal of potatoes and onions over the fire. While we eat, Muqaddar shares some thoughts on how agriculture in this region has faded away, and explains the ongoing struggles we have with our recording equipment and limited electricity. In this video: Releasing the goat herd and newborn lambs for their morning grazing Climbing the steep terrain to harvest and saw heavy firewood branches Medina and Muqaddar carrying massive wood bundles on their backs Cooking a traditional mountain meal over the outdoor fire Discussing Akan's stay with family, the history of our region, and our filming struggles Our names: Muqaddar, Medina, and Akan Locations: Telewa / Zagros Mountains #asoona #WinterSurvival #Iran #NomadicLife #OffGridLiving #ZagrosMountains #HarshReality
