The FZI Research Center for Information Technology, in cooperation with Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, organizes an annual summer school focused on enabling walking robots for domestic environments. This involves using 3D mapping, semantics, ML, ROS 2, and behavior trees in unknown and dynamic environments. Target Group: PhD Students or last-year M.Sc. with programming experience in C++ and/or Python The summer school includes presentations by top robotics researchers from international universities on machine learning, behavior trees, perception, and control for mobile walking robots, as well as group-based software challenges in Python / C++ in ROS/ROS 2, each tackling a typical problem in domestic environments, such as clothes and shoes as obstacles on the floor. Another focus is on the practical integration and evaluation of software on the walking robots Unitree Go2 and Boston Dynamics Spot, both equipped with an integrated arm. There will be navigation, perception, and manipulation tasks to fulfill. The Summer School will culminate in a final competition of the groups.
