In the midst of this luna-park there are people, the Syrian people. This is what I want to tell of my journey: people trying to rebuild, in every sense, normality. Syria was, until twelve years ago, before the civil war, the interest of foreign powers and jihadism, visited by 6 million tourists. Tourists who came from all over the world to see one of the places where human civilisation was born. To visit Syria today, you need to be part of an organised and government-authorised tour, and obtain an entry visa. We left Beirut in the direction of Damascus. We passed through the Lebanese border controls and, after a few kilometres, we found the Syrian ones. It was then that our journey began.
