The Nazi salute was a mandatory greetings to the the reign of Adolf Hitler in Germany. On 13 June 1936, this historic photograph shows a man first identified as August Landmesser and later Gustav Wegert, silently stood up against the Third Reich in protest, by refusing to perform the salute at a public event.
