As we know the Lib Dems scraped though mainly on the postal votes (application forms for which they skilfully arranged to be sent out to people accompanied with a 'vote Lib dem' leaflet). I am very concerned about this, although admittedly I did use my postal vote as I was in London on the day. But the big story was UKIP beating Dave Cameron's Blue Labour into third place. Our share of the vote increased from 3.5% in 2010 to 28%. I freely admit we tend to attract disgruintled conservatives, but without a doubt we took votes from all main parties and from people who normally donlt bother to vote as all the main parties look the same to them. Scameron will likely use this to explain why the party must keep on moving further to the left. However I know for a fact that many Eastleigh voters who would normally support the Conservatives did not do so in view of what they regard as a betrayal over the redefinition of marriage. These are not people who hate homosexuals, they accept same sex civil partnerships but believe this is a step too far and deliberately intended to 'rub people's noses in it' as Andrew Neather (Google him) said about compulsory multiculturalism via mass immigration. And we don't trust Scameron over the in-out EU referendum. Now that he knows that, what will he do? More importantly perhaps, what will his back bench MPs with small majorities do? The national UKIP at the 2015 general election may not approach the 27% Diane James (and mark my words, we'll be seeing more of her!) got in Eastleigh, but it will only need to be about 6% to deprive the so-calloed Conservative party of a majority. In nearby Southampoton Itchen in 2010, the Labour MP John Denham saved his seat by only about 150 votes while UKIP polled over 1,000. On a bigger scale, this will block the Conservatives. Some folks will tell us to stop playing politics and that only the Conservatives can deliver on a referendum. Gues what? we donlt care. Yes, Labour would be marginally worse for Britain than Conservatives, but for me this is like the choice between having 3 pints of urine poured down my back or only 2.7 pints. Vote for freedom, vote anti-spiv, vote UKIP or vote for more of the same. Oh, and expect lots of anti UKIP 'racist bigot' propaganda from the BBC/Guardian and probably a few scandals from the Tory plants and moles in the party. This is a sign that they are scared.
