I attended the 50th anniversary of Coconut Creek High School on Friday, Oct. 29, 2021 at the school in South Florida - Coconut Creek. I covered many football and soccer games at that school's home field during my high school, college and post-college stages of my journalism career, working for the school's student newspaper The Harbinger (advisor Mrs. K. - Mrs. Kozlowski) and also the local weekly newspaper Quad City NEWS (sports editors Gary Curreri and Fred J. Michael II) as well as Sun Sentinel and Miami Herald. I maintained game stats, took photos, interviewed coaches and players, wrote game stories and features. I video taped some of the games for the school's video yearbook, thanks to Mr. Wells in the AV Department. The stadium looked very similar to when I attended, including the Press Box. Sometimes I worked from the Press Box, but mostly I worked from the field. I video taped games from the same spot used currently, next to the Press Box. At Coconut Creek High School, I graduated there, too, Class of 1983. So that's where my journalism journey started. During the 50th anniversary, the Coconut Creek High School football team defeated Northeast to clinch the district title. Go Cougars!
