She is a self-proclaimed “Professor of Practice” who spawned Afro-Caribbean street dance as a practice and movement across Chicago on stage, inside Chicago Public School systems and throughout public dance studios. She has taught workshops all over Chicago and in higher education institutions such as Harvard U, Stanford U, Northwestern U and U of C. Her work has graced platforms with music giants Damian Marley, Wyclef Jean, Busta Rhymes, Cham, Lady Patra, Bounty Killer, and Elephant Man. As a lifelong student of Black dance forms, Lady Sol honors and reveres Master teachers that have taught & influenced her practice: Efe McWorter, Popping Chuck, Jessica "Phoenix" Fiyah, Big Lez, Lady Patra, Buddah Stretch, Fatima Robinson, Voodoo Ray, Eddie Morales, Larry Sims, Global Bob, Ding Dong, Kool Ravers, Latonya Style, Betty Rox, Iddy Ciss & Amaniyea Payne (Muntu Dance), Professor Orville Hall, Shelly Xpressionz, Boysie Roses, and Tanisha Scott. Lady Sol is a 2018 3Arts Chicago Award winner and a Co-founding member of Chicago's premiere Hip-Hip arts education org., Kuumba Lynx. Lady Sol is responsible for bringing Chicago's footwork/juke dance culture to the mainstream through her former dance ensemble, FootworKINGz who toured globally with Madonna. Her newest developing work, "Lady Sol's Dance Diary” Vol.1 is a #HipHopTheaterMemoir solo show set in the 90's that explores sexual trauma, music industry politics, and cross-cultural identity.
