This webinar will present an overview of cannabis, with a focus on sex and gender influences. During this webinar, participants will become more familiar with cannabis fundamentals, risks and potential harms, therapeutic uses, and cannabis use and mental health. There will be a focus on sex and gender related factors influencing the prevalence, patterns, and effects of cannabis use and cannabis use disorder. Our presenter will also briefly discuss cannabis research studies happening at CAMH and how to get involved. Our Presenter: Madi Wright (she/her) is a fourth year PhD student at the University of Toronto in the department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. She is conducting her research at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, at the Institute for Mental Health Policy Research, under the supervision of Dr. Bruna Brands. Madi’s research is focused on sex differences in the acute effects of cannabis, as well as the relationship between gender, cannabis use, and the trajectory to seeking treatment for cannabis-related problems.
