The Shebelle Resort, officially inaugurated on January 31, 2026, stands as a symbol of this transformation. Developed as part of Ethiopia’s national Dine for Generations (Gebeta Le Tewled) initiative, the project aims to modernize tourism, diversify the economy, and position Jigjiga as a regional gateway linking East Africa and the Middle East. The resort also celebrates Somali identity through modern design elements, including the unique Camel Park, while creating job opportunities for local communities and strengthening regional cooperation.
