My father heard about my recent interest in fountain pens and remembered he had one in his boxes. It was gifted to him sometime around 1995, and he had never used it. I first thought he wanted me to have a look and see if I could make it work. While in the process of doing so, I asked him how many converters he thought he needed. Yes, converters. I wouldn’t be around much to easily help him clean his converters out and so thought he could do with a few. And, yes, cartridges might be the best option, but I also wanted him to have freedom in choosing his ink. So, anyway. When I asked him about the converters, he seemed mildly surprised and told me it was all up to me as it was mine. It was my turn to be surprised. Imagine holding on to something for 27 years and then gifting it to someone with the interest span of a three-year-old (though on a slightly grander scale)??? Needless to say, it is one of my prized possessions. This first part walks you through how I prepped it. I had to wait a day or two to find and buy a converter for it. The second part walks you through how I installed the converter and inked it up. A few interesting facts about the Cross Solo Classic: 1. It was released sometime in 1995. 2. It has 22k gold electroplating on its trimming and nib. 3. The converters it came with had a green ink reserve section. You can also connect with me on other platforms!
