Hello and welcome to Onsite with Matt Cheney, a collection of short videos following me throughout metropolitan Washington to the neighborhoods I serve as a realtor. Fun fact. Foxhall is named after a nineteenth century cannon manufacturer who had also been the mayor of Georgetown. The area we call Foxhall today is centered by the charming three hundred (300) home Tudor-Style Foxhall Village that was built in the 1920s by developer Boss & Phelps to replicate an English village on what was the old 60 acre Foxall estate. Depending upon who you ask, Foxhall is a small area around Foxhall Village or it’s a much larger area overlapping the Berkley neighborhood, parts of the Palisades as well as the Foxhall Cresents and Phillips Park enclaves. The glamourous Foxhall Road also gives the area its name. The road makes its way up the hill from the Potomac River to the fabulous Wesley Heights neighborhood and is lined by impressive homes. Foxhall is residential for the most part with great access into downtown Washington and is home to the German Embassy and Ambassador’s Residence as well as the Kreeger Museum. Now for some real estate! We are going to talk about all of the sales for the west side of the 20007 zip code. Obliviously the east side of the zip code being Georgetown is not a bad thing. Over the past year eighty two (82) homes and townhomes have sold here in Foxhall for an average sales price of $1.5M and with an average of thirty-four (34) days on the market. The highest of all those sales was for a 7,800 sf, completely renovated 1932 built six (6) bedroom, seven (7) bath home on a 14,000 sf double lot for $4.1M here on Hoban Road. Now for Condos and Co-ops, there were fifteen (15) units that traded for an average sales price of $366K and had an average of forty-one (41) days on the market. The highest condo sale for this past year was for a 1,200 sf, two (2) bed, two (2) bath townhome style condo here on MacArthur Boulevard for $672K.
