India Summit: Salman Rushdie on Contemporary Literature in India

Emory Professor of Religion and Asian Studies Paul Courtright moderates a discussion of contemporary literature and its social implications in India with University Distinguished Professor Sir Salman Rushdie at the Halle Institute's fifth annual India Summit, February 17, 2014. Rushdie explores the cultural, political and global influences of both current and emerging Indian writers, incorporating his personal experiences as an author. The 2014 summit presented a wide range of panels and speakers, including Rushdie, Consul General Ajit Kumar, and renowned epidemiologist William Foege. Launched in 2010, this annual event, formerly known as the Emerging India Summit, is the brainchild of a dynamic team of students from across the university.
