Regarding Audi A4 and A5, the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) is commercially known as Multitronic. ​An important distinction: Audi used CVT exclusively for front-wheel-drive (FWD) models. If the car is a Quattro (all-wheel drive), it will never have a CVT; instead, it would use a Tiptronic (torque converter) or S-tronic (dual-clutch/DSG). ​Here are the models that use the same or very similar CVT technology: ​Audi Models with Multitronic ​Since this technology was co-developed by LuK and Audi specifically for their longitudinal engine layout, it is primarily found within the Audi brand: • ​Audi A4: From generations B6 and B7 to B8 (roughly from 2001 to 2015). • ​Audi A5: All front-wheel-drive versions (Coupe, Sportback, Cabriolet) produced between 2007 and 2015. • ​Audi A6: Generations C5, C6, and C7 (FWD versions). In the A6, the gearbox was often reinforced to handle the higher torque of the 2.7 and 3.0 TDI engines. • ​Audi A8: Found in some rare front-wheel-drive configurations (mainly in older generations like the D3). ​Is it used by other brands? ​The short answer is no, not directly.
