This simple levitation was created for the opera Macbeth. The 12 nymphs in the scene are indeed topless but for the sake of youtube, I edited that part out (sorry guys). No one backstage or anyone involved in the show knew how it was done except a select few people. Each performance night many onlookers gathered on the sides of the stage not only to check out the chicks but to try to see how the trick was done. No one could see how the levitation was done because it was designed to be seen by 2,200 people from every angle- including directly from the sides or anywhere on stage. The stage was completely open, in full view and littered with skulls so you know there was no apparatus behind him. This video darkens the stage a bit but the complete wasteland of skulls is visible to the audience the entire time- thus ensuring that there is no apparatus behind a curtain. It's not an easy feat to float a 260lb. (120 kilo) man as opposed to the normal 90lb. assistant as most magicians do.
