The Kenworth Bandag Bandit is an American tuner truck featured. It can be unlocked by completing the "Halloween Invasion" assignment. In January 1988, Martin Carver slipped behind the wheel of this mammoth Bandag Bandit at the famous Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. The Bandit was a 1978 customized Kenworth Conventional truck that was 25 feet long, 11 feet tall and weighed about 8 tons. It set a new world land speed record for trucks that day, clocking in at 150.918 miles per hour. Carver was the CEO of Bandag Inc., a local Iowa company in Muscatine – about 17 miles from here – known for perfecting tire retreading. When a truck tire wears out, you can have new tread put on it. The tire is shaved down until it’s smooth and then a new section of tread is bonded to it. The tires on this truck are slicked down for another purpose; these are racing tires. If you have tread on a tire, at high speeds it will get hot and can blow. Bandag wanted to show how durable their tires were, so they ran them on racing trucks. This truck has more power than most. It’s got straight pipes and is heavily fueled, so it’ll put out a big jet of black smoke on both sides.
