I keep injecting some more death metal into my channel. Once, a so-called friend told me that I should play mainstream hits in order to get more views, likes, subscribers (whatever) in my youtube channel...but he was missing the point: 1.- There're enough Foo Fighters, Green Day, Metallica, etc. covers around 2.- I don´t like those bands 3.- I don´t care about likes, dislikes, followers...and social media in general 4.- I just play for myself! So this is my response to his advice: another drum cover of a song nobody gives a shit by an underground band I have admired since forever which challenges me to improve my skills. Brandon Thomas drumming in the first two Dim Mak (formerly Ripping Corpse!) albums is magnificent: tasty, imaginative, inspired and precise as a swiss clock; he has definitely the Komodo Whip! I love the way he grooves with funky beats underneath Shaune's unique death metal riffing. And one of my favorite things about this album is how they put their technical musicianship into simple song structures with a lot of repetition, turning the songs into catchy martial-arts death metal. I recorded this song playing with my student Alvaro's marvelous drumkit (Sonor SQ1) at his studio (thanks a lot!). This time I was a bit concentrated because this is a tricky tune and I decided to improvise those final verses with my own funky beats.
