General Court Martial to Resume as Besigye, Lutale Seek Constitutional Court Intervention

Jailed Rt. Col Dr. Kiiza Besigye and co-accused Hajji Obedi Lutale have petitioned the Constitutional court challenging the re-enactment of the UPDF Act which they claim re-establishes the General Court Martial with a broader scope and the jurisdiction to try civillians and that it undermines the recommendation of the supreme court. The petitioner, want the constitutional court to restrain the general court Martial from enforcing, implementing or giving effect to the impugned provision of the Uganda People's Defence Force Act.
