The Sarah Jane Adventures is a British science fiction television series created by Russell T Davies and produced by BBC Cymru Wales for CBBC. Aimed at a younger audience, this Doctor Who spin-off stars Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith, a former investigative journalist who once traveled through time and space with the Doctor. The series follows her adventures as she continues to battle extraterrestrial threats on Earth, often with the help of a group of young friends. The show debuted on January 1, 2007, with the special "Invasion of the Bane," and ran until 2011, when Sladen's sudden passing from cancer led to the series' conclusion. Over its five series, The Sarah Jane Adventures earned critical acclaim, including nominations for the British Academy Children's Award and a BAFTA Cymru Award, and it won a Royal Television Society award for Best Children's Drama in 2010.
