We'll start off by putting ethnomethodology in context, positioning it as the applied version of phenomenology. After that we'll break down the ethnomethodological view of the social world and social order - in a nutshell, there is no tangible, external social order! It's all just an illusion! Once we've digested that, I'll explain some of Garfinkel's more detailed ideas like the reflexive construction of reality and indexicality, drawing on his findings from the infamous Counselling Study and other breaching experiments.
