📅 30.03.2025 🎫 AF 416 💺 21A - Premium 🛫 CDG - Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport 🇫🇷 🛬 FOR - Fortaleza Pinto Martins Airport 🇧🇷 🎨 Air France ✈️ Boeing 777-300 ER 🇫🇷 F-GZNJ - Detailed experience of my 9-hour flight from Paris to Fortaleza. Air France operates this route 3x weekly, seasonally switching between Airbus A350 and Boeing 777-200, but also sending the bigger 300 version on selected flights! DEPARTURE AIRPORT Today's flight departed from the remote M gates, which include a shuttle bus ride after the passport check. The passport check can vary significantly, depending which passport you hold. Getting off the shuttle bus after a 5 minutes ride, you enter a generous waiting area with benches & comfortable relaxing chairs, all surrounded by several shops, cafés and restaurants. The gates area is rather bright, also equipped with some cafés. So, even with many flights departing, you'll always find some space to sit down. CABIN Today's flight was operated by a recently retrofitted Boeing 777-300/ER, which is also an upgrade from the 200ER version with the old and unpopular "slide-down" Premium seats. The new Premium Class, introduced in 2023, occupies 6 rows in 2-4-2 layout with the lavatories right behind, but shared with the Economy section. SEAT Air France Premium seats have 19'' width, 38'' pitch & 124° recline (compared to 17'' & 31'' in Eco). The bulkhead row comes with some advantages (no seat in front intruding your space when reclined), and making it easier to climb over your neighbour. In contrary, there's no footrest, and the TV is mounted on the wall, so you need to stretch a lot to reach the touchscreen. The armrest in the middle contains tables for both seats, however, the opening mechanism feels a bit weird, so you may intrude your neighbour's space. On the side of the adjustable headrest, you can find noice-reducing headphones and a reading light. When having a clumsy moment, the headphones may fall down easily into the space of the pax behind you. As my neighbour moved to another seat after boarding, I stored both headphones on the empty seat. In fully extended mode, the seat allows you to have some good rest. Being 1.91m tall, I could still fully stretch and needed some effort to touch the bulkhead wall. The TV shows nice bird's & front camera views, however, the map didn't work. FLIGHT & ON BOARD SERVICE Thanks to the low payload, boarding was finished quickly and we departed slightly behind schedule. If you're already thirsty before takeoff, there's a water bottle waiting for you in the bulkhead pouch :) After takeoff, the crew handed out a refreshing towel and a nicely designed amenity kit. Being a lover of blue colours, definitely one to keep in the collection! The kit included basic stuff such as toothbrush, toothpaste, sleeping mask, ear plugs and a pair of socks. The crew also offered a glass of champagne right after. Now to the part that makes the new Premium product worth the upgrade: The catering! Since 2025, Premium dining moved closer to Business in terms of quality, being designed by a Michelin Star Chef! Apart from pre-booked preferences, you have a meat & vegetarian option as usual. The only downside was the plastic plate, which feel a bit cheap compared to what I had with KLM Premium. After the lunch, the crew passes with a basket of snacks every hour, and places a new water bottle at your seat when they see that yours is empty, quite attentive! About 1 hour before landing, the crew hands out a snack bag to make sure you arrive at your destination without feeling hungry. I must say, in terms of food & drinks, Premium was definitely a delight! Shortly before sunset, we descended into Fortaleza and approached the airport via runway 13, which gives you nice views of the coast line and the city. ARRIVAL Being a relatively small international airport, and significantly improved since Fraport took over, you may exit the airport rather quickly. Having double citizenship (Switzerland & Brazil) and priority amenities also applying to luggage handling, I could leave the airport within 20 minutes after deplaning! BOOKING & RESERVATION I booked the ZRH-CDG-FOR section at a bargain of CHF 360.- (400 USD) and had a cheap upgrade offer priced at CHF 150.- (170 USD), which I accepted happily. Since the cabin seemed nearly empty, I was lucky to find a bulkhead window seat to choose without extra charge! Actually, there was also a Business upgrade option for CHF 430.- (480 USD) from Eco. Meanwhile, also the lowest Premium fare doesn't contain checked luggage anymore. However, having Flying Blue Silver status, an extra checked bag was already included. Furthermore, standard seats can be reserved for free with this status, and you have Sky Priority amenities at the airports, which can save you a lot of time depending on the airport. 00:00 Boarding (Airport & Cabin views) 01:10 Departure from CDG 03:36 Amenity Kit 04:08 Cruise (Lunch, Snacks & more) 05:08 Arrival at FOR
