Just arrived at The Garage 1935 Riley 12/4 Kestrel 22T As the Art Deco movement gathered momentum, influences began to show in automotive design and one of the most stylish and successful was the Riley Kestrel, which was first shown at the 1932 Motor Show. Amongst the streamlined bodies that were offered at the time – the Riley with its eye-catching styling certainly made a statement. A new 12 hp engine was introduced late in 1934 fitted to a chassis of an entirely new design designated 22T. This new 12/ 4 range comprised the Falcon, Lynx and Kestrel. The Kestrel body was now more rakish than before incorporating numerous subtle differences. The new Kestrel with four light body, was only available for that one season, before undergoing a re-style being wider and larger with six-light coachwork. Today, these earlier four light models are rare and, consequently, have become highly sought after. In the current owner’s hands for the past 26 years, this Riley underwent a complete restoration by the late Ian Gladstone of Blue Diamond Services which was completed in 1993. The engine was rebuilt with shell bearings, twin SU carbs and a 4-branch exhaust manifold More recently she has benefitted from new wings and running boards, a re-cored radiator, replacement CWP and new carpets Full details and more photos will be updated shortly For more information and to arrange your appointment to view, please call us on 01420-474919 or 07710-364945 or email us at [email protected]
