Summary: Cold snare polypectomy (CSP) and hot snare polypectomy (HSP) are both widely used; however, it is not clear whether they give different incomplete resection rates for polyps of 4–9mm. In this randomized controlled trial, the incomplete resection rates were found to be similar (CSP 10.7% vs. HSP 7.4%), but noninferiority for CSP compared with the standard HSP was not demonstrated. Differences due to resection technique were small, but serrated and hyperplastic histology were both independent risk factors for incomplete resection.
