A collection of scenes animated by Shingo Yamashita (山下清悟) Click "Show More" for some notes on the animator and sources: -Shingo Yamashita is a digital animator, meaning he hand-draws his work on a tablet & computer contrary to the traditional method of pencil and paper. Additionally, Yamashita was among the earliest wave of "web-generation" digital animators. By uploading his gif animations to the internet, he and his peers were noticed and scouted by eccentric directors willing to take risks on animators with no official training in animation. Looking at their output, it's easy to see why they were mostly limited to obscure franchises through much of the 2000's. Their methods and style were unfamiliar, and sometimes even criticized for their propensity to prioritize loose, kinetic motion at the cost of structure and on-model art. As time went on and the internet rapidly became the life-blood of our world as it is today, animators with similar artistic backgrounds to Yamashita are common place, but it's more than fair to say his early efforts are partly responsible for inspiring the generations that would come after. -I wanted to highlight more than just his skills as an animator here. A decent number of the scenes in this video were also story boarded, directed, composited, and/or colored by Shingo Yamashita himself and I tried to give those priority. Most notably the Shinsekai Yori ED, the Naruto Shippuuden ED, both Tetsuwan Birdy ED's, as well as the Senjo no Enbukyoku PV. It's uncommon to see an individual with such overwhelming talent in multiple fields of production. His creative sense opens the door to these near "solo-everything" opportunities and the result is always a sight to behold. -While a number of people are very polarized by the Naruto vs. Pain fight, I personally consider it one of the most iconic feats of animation. Just 22 years of age, an inexperienced Yamashita was tasked with 100 cuts, which amounts to the first 7 minutes of one of the most climactic episodes in a very popular franchise. He drew around 5500 frames, with approximately two months to do so. For context, your average TV anime episode has around 3000-4000 frames. It's undoubtedly rough around the edges but the raw sincerity of the animation makes it among my favorite things ever. -Animators often use real life references to get perspective or inspiration for a particular scene. At a Crunchyroll hosted Q&A event Shingo Yamashita talked about personally recording himself doing the entire dance scene from Macross Frontier #04 (0:08-0:14). He jokingly added that that embarrassing video will never see the light of day! 0:00-0:07 - Shinsekai Yori ED 0:08-0:14 - Macross Frontier #04 0:15-0:19 - Beatless ED 0:20-0:23 - Senjo no Enbukyoku PV 0:24-0:27 - Tetsuwan Birdy Decode ED 0:28-0:36 - Tetsuwan Birdy Decode:2 ED 0:37-0:49 - Naruto Shippuuden ED20 0:50-0:58 - Shinsekai Yori #01 0:59-1:00 - Shinsekai Yori #12 1:01-1:02 - Shinsekai Yori #01 1:03-1:12 - Naruto Shippuuden OP6 1:13-1:28 - Shinsekai Yori ED 1:29-1:30 - Yozakura Quartet: Hoshi no Umi OP 1:31-1:33 - Naruto Shippuuden #123 1:34-1:40 - Yozakura Quartet: Hoshi no Umi OP 1:41-1:42 - Senjo no Enbukyoku PV 1:43-1:45 - Hoka Hoka Oden no Uta 1:46-2:17 - Yozakura Quartet: Hoshi no Umi #02 2:18-2:22 - Sacred Seven #09 2:23-2:27 - Yozakura Quartet: Hoshi no Umi #02 2:28-2:30 - Atom: The Beginning OP 2:31-2:33 - Fasting Days 3 (commercial) 2:34-2:48 - Naruto Shippuuden #167 2:49-3:06 - Tetsuwan Birdy Decode:2 #12 3:07-3:12 - BlackFox 3:13-3:18 - Fullmetal Alchemist: Sacred Star of Milos 3:19-3:23 - Fate/Go 4th Anniversary CM 3:24-3:33 - Fate/Apocrypha #23 3:34-3:37 - Senjo no Enbukyoku PV 3:38-3:50 - Yama no Susume: 2nd Season #13 song: Oceanside - Scandinavianz • Видео Disclaimer 1- This video is purely fan-made and is not associated with the musical artist and/or anime company(ies) in any way. 2- I do not own ANY of the anime included in this video.
