Near complete poem published in 1893 by Henry Lawson (1867 – 1922) after he completed his trip out west. The original poem has 17 stanzas, and I have used a melody which pairs the stanzas : this makes 8 verses. The omitted lines, which come after the second verse (as sung) are : “ His brow was broad and roomy, but its lines were somewhat harsh, And a sensual mouth was hidden by a drooping, fair moustache; (His hairy chest was open to what poets call the 'wined', And I would have bet a thousand that his pants were gone behind).” Violin by Jessie Morgan For more traditional Australian folk songs, please go to https://thequeenslandtiger.com/
