Go to https://surfshark.com/sam for 4 extra months of Surfshark! I flew on a refurbished Emirates Boeing 777-300ER in First Class from Dubai to Shenzhen, China — a new destination for Emirates. At Dubai Airport, I started my journey at the new First Class check-in area, which felt more like a luxury hotel lobby than an airport. The agent handled all check-in formalities personally, and my short but pleasant time in the First Class Lounge left me optimistic about the flight ahead. The refurbished First Class cabin retains a largely familiar look, featuring lighter décor and elegant white leather seats. Meanwhile, Business Class has seen a major upgrade to a modern 1-2-1 all-aisle access layout, and there’s now a small Premium Economy cabin as well. While the hard product remains world-class — from the beautifully presented menus and white-glove dining service to unlimited caviar and premium wine pairings — the soft service was surprisingly inconsistent, even on a lightly loaded flight. Attention to detail was missing, and the overall experience fell short of the Emirates First Class standard I’ve come to expect.
