To begin with, I would like to note that we have amazing mobility for a heavy tank of the seventh level. With our weight and engine, the specific power is slightly higher than 15 horsepower per ton. This indicator allows the World of Tanks IP tank to develop good speed very quickly and maintain it confidently, maintaining dynamics. The heavy weight's maneuverability is also in perfect order, and that's great. As for booking, many of our classmates will envy these indicators. Yes, perhaps our numbers are not record-breaking and there are quite a few vulnerable spots, but the heavy Soviet IS tank has plenty of armor inclination angles and various bevels in the silhouette of the turret and hull, which makes it possible to very often catch ricochets and non-penetrations. Otherwise, the TTX ISs have a significant safety margin and low visibility; the latter parameter will have to be somehow corrected with perks and equipment. Looking at the weapons, you again begin to involuntarily be surprised. No, of course, the armor penetration of the IS weapon is unenviable, but just look at the one-time damage! Even our average rate of fire in combination with a huge alpha strike does not prevent us from delivering approximately 1900 units of damage per minute, and this is without equipment and everything else. Otherwise, the gun is not very comfortable, its spread is huge, stabilization is bad, and there is frankly little accuracy, so it’s hard to call an IS tank accurate. By the way, the vertical aiming angles are only -6 degrees downwards, which is also not very comfortable, but not bad either. However, the IS-1 World of Tanks has one more weapon to choose from. It has a slightly lower alpha, increased reload speed and more comfortable accuracy. In this case, we have approximately the same DPM, but with this gun the style of play is different. We have the opportunity to realize our damage at medium and long distances. Yes, the D-10T’s annual shells penetrate better, which is also good in confrontations with higher-level tanks. Advantages and disadvantages We’ve figured it out in general terms, highlighted several strengths and weaknesses of this machine, and now let’s add some specifics and break everything down point by point for clarity. Otherwise, the tank plays very cheerfully, is capable of working wonders, being at the top of the list, skillfully tanking and dealing a lot of damage. As for fights outside the top, it is somewhat more difficult here; you need to charge your gold and play more carefully. IS game tactics We have at our disposal a very dynamic vehicle, like for a heavy tank, with excellent one-time damage, good armor and poor accuracy. We dictate all this by our own rules, and therefore, on the IS tank, combat tactics consist of playing on the first line. Here we feel most comfortable, because the problems of accuracy and visibility are leveled out. The best option would be to moderately approach the enemy and play as an alpha. We fire a shot and roll into cover while we reload.
