JOSEP PLA - December 8, 1976 - B / W - 80 minutes On December 8, 1976, Josep Pla (1897-1981) granted Joaquín Soler Serrano an exceptional interview for the series A FONDO. He had three months to go until he was eighty years old, and for eighty minutes they talked about everything, or almost everything, allowing us to get closer, as in no other document, to his personality, with controversial and forceful statements: "I smoke to look for adjectives ... I have no envy and that is why I am relatively happy ... I am a hustler and a constant talker ... The irony is the impossibility of saying something ... The Spanish language is a long phrase that he ends up in a fishtail ... I drink whiskey constantly ... Spaniards are historically unsatisfied ... I think that the man who reads novels from the age of thirty-five is a cretin ... The most characteristic feature of Pla : the ignorance". The broadcast of this interview by Spanish Television of Catalonia, coinciding with the centenary of Josep Pla in 1987, was the trigger for Gonzalo Herralde's dedication to the recovery and dissemination of the series A FONDO, which began in 1988 with the edition in VHS of this interview with Josep Pla, destined for bookstores and with great success (number 2 on the sales lists of Crisol bookstores for weeks).
