Yaybahar | Soundhunter in Turkey with Görkem Şen In this Soundhunter expedition, I visit the studio of instrument builder and musician Görkem Şen to explore the Yaybahar, the acoustic instrument he invented after fifteen years of research. Görkem developed this instrument and an entire organological family based on the acoustic principle of springs: an elastic bridge system connecting strings and membranes, producing sustained resonances and reverbs without any electronics. The result is soundscapes reminiscent of analog synthesizers, generated solely by mechanical vibrations. The video traces his journey from initial experimentation to hand-building the instrument, featuring a live demonstration and an interview where he shares the creative and technical process.
