The Nature Conservancy is working with partners to help farmers, private landowners, and municipalities take steps to prevent agricultural runoff from entering our waterways and prevent erosion, keeping our waters and surrounding lands cleaner and healthier. Agriculture Runoff Treatment Systems (ARTS) are one of the several ‘edge of field’ practices developed to capture farm field runoff, capture and partially sequester nutrients, and reduce the erosive energy of water leaving the fields. ARTS are an important conservation tool that landowners can install on their property. Several ARTS have been installed in the East River watershed in northeastern Wisconsin since 2016. Special thank you to NEW Water, Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance, University of Wisconsin – Madison Extension, Brown County, and Outagamie County for their support and expertise throughout the video planning and production process.
