Lettuce Wrap is one of our family favorite thing to make. It can be served as appetizer or light meal. You can make it vegetarian, chicken, or pork. For vegetarian option, I would use diced potato, red/green bell peppers, carrots, celery, and vegetarian oyster sauce of course. Same steps and measurements. Lettuce wrap is one of my Guilt Free meals as it does not have much carb :) This recipe serves: 3 to 4 people Prep and cook time: 20 minutes+ Ingredients: 1.5 lbs. Minced Pork ( 80% Lean 20% Fat) 2 Shiitake mushrooms (Soaked in hot water for 1 hour - cut into 1/4 inch dice) 1 Can (5 Oz) of Whole Water chestnuts (3/8 inch dice) 4 Cloves of garlic 2 Stalks of green onion (I used green part only) 3 TBSP Cooking Oil 1/2 tsp each Salt and white pepper to marinate pork 1.5 TBSP - 2 TBSP Brown sugar to caramelize meat Sauce: 2 TBSP Light soy sauce 1 TBSP Hoisin sauce 1/2 tsp White pepper 1-2 tsp Shao Xing wine 3/4 tsp Dark soy sauce 1 TBSP Oyster sauce 1 tsp Sesame oil Cornstarch slurry ( 1 TBSP cornstarch: 3 TBSP water) Please do not mix in brown sugar in the sauce, as it must caramelize the pork in the step before pouring the sauce, to reach its best flavor profile.
